Overview
On February 12, 2023, an unidentified high-altitude object was tracked into the airspace over Lake Huron and shot down by a U.S. F-16 acting under NORAD command. The Lake Huron engagement was one of four high-altitude shootdowns that took place between February 4 and February 12, 2023, the first being a People's Republic of China-attributed surveillance balloon engaged off South Carolina on February 4.
