The longest-running USAF investigation into UFOs, Project Blue Book collected over 12,000 reports between 1952 and 1969. 701 cases were marked unexplained. Led at various points by Captain Edward Ruppelt and astronomer J. Allen Hynek, who later became one of UFOlogy's most credentialed researchers.
