Beginning in March 1995, ranchers across Puerto Rico reported livestock, mainly goats, found drained of blood with two small puncture wounds. Witness descriptions of the perpetrator varied between a reptilian biped 4–5 feet tall with spinal quills, glowing red eyes and scaled skin, and a more canid creature in the Texas/Mexico variant. The case became one of the most widely reported modern cryptid encounters and is frequently catalogued alongside Reptilian humanoid sightings.
