Full Report
Japanese fishermen on the Hitachi coast reported a strange hollow saucer-shaped vessel of metal and crystal washing ashore. Inside was a young woman in unusual clothing holding a wooden box, speaking an unknown language. The fishermen, fearing a curse, pushed the boat back out to sea. The account was documented in three contemporary Edo-period Japanese texts including the Toen Shōsetsu.
